This featured custom metal retention clip with a foam seal began with customer-supplied specifications and standards. Working with our client, we developed the design for the project using CATIA, and then built the appropriate tooling in-house, at our facility. After prototypes were developed and tested, we were ready to begin stamping.

The retention clip was manufactured using a S3F Four-slide machine and 0.025″ thick 1050 spring steel, and the seal was manufactured from molded foam. We austemper heat treated each clip, and applied a zinc electroplate or black fluorocarbon paint finish. Throughout manufacturing we upheld a 0.005″ tolerance.

Once the tested lot size was approved to the customers’ specifications for Rockwell hardness, salt spray, and humidity testing, we began the process to manufacture and package these clips to meet the weekly requirements of the 1,000,000 piece annual volume for shipments into Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana for use in the automotive industry.
